Philadelphia 76ers center Joel Embiid will not be on the court when the team returns to post All-Star action Thursday against the Miami Heat.
According to ESPN’s Tim Bontemps, the team announced that Embiid experienced soreness in his left knee that led to him getting an MRI, which fortunately revealed no structural damage.
Embiid will be re-evaluated in a week and he will undergo physical therapy and load management ( whatever that means).
Anytime Embiid has to miss a game there is always cause for concern, given his previous injury history but he has been relatively healthy this season, playing in all but four of the team’s 58 games this year. He is averaging 27.3 points, 13.5 rebounds and 3.5 assists per game and is establishing himself as not only one of the best big men but overall players in the game.
